Community Outreach and Needs Assessment
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT (CNA) IN IKOT OBIOKO COMMUNITY IN IKOT ABASI LOCAL
PURPOSE
The Community Outreach will educate and train the villagers on how to improve their livelihood through agriculture and other sources of livelihood as well healthy living and personal hygiene while the Community Needs Assessment will evaluate/appraise rural community to answer the following questions viz: What are people’s needs, what resources exist to meet those needs, and are the resources adequate? A Community Needs Assessment and Community Outreach will guide strategic planning, develop targeted investments strategies, identify funding priorities, inform on service distribution and the allocation of resources within the community according to their priority needs.
The purpose can be summarized into the following:
1. Provide learning, development, or growth
2. Solve a current problem
3. Avoid a past or current problem.
4. Create or take advantage of a future opportunity
FOCUS AREAS
The key areas to be addressed during the Outreach/Assessment would be areas of concern for the Priority Needs Assessment would include but not be limited to:
· Sources
· Housing /Rental burden indicators
· Nutrition/ Food Assistance
· Income/Accessing Earned Income Tax Credit/Financial Literacy
· Education supports
· Income/Employment
· Family stabilization supports
· Health/Behavioral Wellness
· Childcare
· Transportation needs
· Poverty levels and sustainability thresholds
· Existing services and resources to meet needs
· Safety in neighborhoods and communities
· Critical needs of isolated/vulnerable folks
